Blaine Stokes has over 26 years experience as a successful
criminal trial lawyer. As a prosecuting attorney in Telluride,
Aspen and Thornton, Colorado for five years and defense attorney
for the remainder of his career he has handled dozens of jury
trials, hundreds of trials to the court, hearings, plea negotiations,
probation revocation hearing, sentencings and other proceedings.
Cases have ranged from sexual assault, kidnapping, burglary,
menacing, domestic violence, theft, prostitution, resisting
arrest, distribution and possession of illegal drugs and juvenile
delinquency proceedings to DUI and traffic offenses.

Blaine Stokes graduated with honors from highly esteemed
Carleton College in 1975. Upon graduation he enrolled in the
University of Idaho Law School from which he obtained his
juris doctorate degree in 1978. While waiting for the results
of the Colorado Bar exam, Mr. Stokes accepted a position as
a legal intern with the 7th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
He was promoted to deputy district attorney in October of
1978 after being admitted to the Colorado Bar and the United
States District Court for the District of Colorado.
Mr. Stokes served as a prosecutor in Montrose and Telluride,
Colorado for several more years. He subsequently accepted
a position as a deputy district attorney in the Aspen office
of the 9th Judicial District Attorney's Office. After leaving
the DA's office, Mr. Stokes accepted a position with the City
Attorney's Office in Thornton, Colorado where he initially
served as prosecuting attorney. After several additional years
of public service, Mr. Stokes returned to private practice
in the Denver Metro area. His primary area of practice is
criminal law.
